What makes a good SAR dog?

Do you think you have a pretty good dog?
Your dog could help find lost people!

A good SAR dog is sturdy, rugged, and comfortable in woods, field, and water, in all weather conditions. In addition, dogs must be well-socialized to other dogs and people and trained for basic obedience.

Even if you don’t have a dog…

Even more importantly, we’re looking for a few good volunteers. We need dog handlers and support volunteers. Anyone who loves dogs and the woods and enjoys being part of a team has potential. Volunteers must be moderately fit, emotionally stable, an enthusiastic team player, and able to accept constructive criticism.
